Guy and Andrée, a couple of young retirees, offer you the chance to nightswap in their gorgeous accommodation – a modern 135 m² apartment in Château de la Tourette near Lyon. Be king or queen of the castle for a few nights!
An amazing place for Nightswappers
After watching an article about Nightswapping on French TV, Guy and Andrée were just blown away by the idea of swapping nights. We were pleased when we saw that they’d added this extraordinary apartment to the website and even more pleased to actually meet them. Before Nightswapping they would travel in more traditional ways, but it was the idea of sharing that really won them over. Guy and Andrée are making the most of their retirement and are often away exploring the far corners of France… which is an ideal opportunity for them to make their apartment available to others.
This apartment, that we were lucky enough to visit, is perfect for a romantic getaway or family holidays. The apartment is located in the sixteenth century Château de la Tourette and set in the countryside of Lyon, far from the hustle and bustle of the city life, making it the ideal place to recharge your batteries. It was renovated with the assistance of an architect to make it warm and welcoming with modern furnishings and spacious rooms.
We absolutely fell in love with the children’s bedroom which is in the tower of the chateau. Its décor is fit for any princess and reminded us of the Rapunzel’s tower. It also has fabulous views over the surrounding landscape.
Château de la Tourette and its surroundings
Located 25 km northwest of Lyon, in the commune of Eveux, Château de la Tourette stands in a commanding position, overlooking the surrounding countryside with splendid views. When the chateau was restored, the developers decided to create 15 apartments within its 7,000 m² of grounds. It is located just a few hundred meters from the Convent of La Tourette, a world-famous architectural work created by Le Corbusier, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Convent was originally designed as a place of learning but is today occupied by a religious community of ten Dominican friars who continue the building’s monastic vocation. Architecture students from all over the world come on their own or on organised trips to study La Tourette as important part of their training. Artistic demonstrations, exhibitions and concerts are also organised throughout the year.
There are many places to visit in the peaceful area around La Tourette, particularly for nature lovers. If you’re more of a wine-lover, you’ll find this a great place to join the Route des vins du Beaujolais.
