Travel d’Or 2015 : The up & coming travel startups!

For the seventh year in a row, the “Travel d’Or™” awards will be rewarding the companies in the tourism sector making a real difference on the web. More than 320 companies have been nominated and the winners will be decided on the basis of votes casted by web users. Voting is open until February 23rd.

The competition now covers the whole digital tourism sector, split into ten distinct categories. Web users choose their favorite websites in each category based on several criteria: overall impression, usability, readability, access to information, response time, etc.

The jury, presided over by Jean-Pierre Nadir (founder of EasyVoyage), will also be awarding special prizes in four other categories: mobility, innovation, start-up and the Travel d’Or special prize.

The challengers in the “Collaborative tourism” category

Airbnb, Blablacar, Tripadvisor – it’s no surprise to find these giants of the tourism sector among the nominees.

But let’s not make any assumptions. Collaborative tourism is going from strength to strength and innovative startups now definitely have a part to play. Over half the nominees in this category are young companies offering new approaches that have already been adopted by thousands of users.

Nightswapping – new player in the big league

Launched in 2012, Nightswapping has earned its place amongst the main players of the “private accommodation” industry thanks to its unique concept. Winner of the prize for user service at the “Next Tourisme” conference in 2014, Nightswapping is glad to have its name beside giants such as Airbnb and Blablacar and certainly intends to defend its place.

The conference closing ceremony will take place on the 26th March at Pavillon Gabriel in Paris. Until then, feel free to support Nightswapping! :)
